11+ Creative writing for Exams (11am to 12:15pm)

The 11+ creative writing component tests children’s knowledge of literary techniques, their use of grammar and punctuation, and above all, their ability to write fluently. On this course, children tackle one creative writing question a day from a selection of 11+ papers, within a set time limit. We show them how to plan stories or pieces before writing them, how and when to use techniques such as simile and metaphor, and how to achieve that all-important ingredient in their writing: flow.
