CREATIVE WRITING FOR EXAMS WITH TYMEK. 5 to 6pm. Ages 9 to 11.

In our creative writing for exams classes, we aim to develop strategies for crafting effective, descriptive and, above all, time-efficient stories. Throughout the course, I target specific weaknesses that pupils often report suffering from: we look at model plot structures for those who find it difficult to plan; we strategize ways of infusing descriptive (“show, not tell”) writing into every aspect of the story, and we work on time management, breaking down what to focus on in timed environments. Although the main aim of the course is to have our pupils write full-length stories that they can continue developing outside the classroom, I also engage my pupils with fun games to reinforce the skill they can take with them whenever they plan a story.
