This is a club to help 9 to 11 year olds really hone their writing toolkit. Students of all abilities will often receive feedback from their English teachers asking them to, for example, ‘use more challenging vocabulary’, or ‘vary their sentence structures’, or ‘use a variety of sentence starters’. Some students struggle to apply this feedback, especially in a way that feels natural and not forced.
This club aims to address this by breaking down these core writing skills, and showing participants how to tackle each one through a variety of fun, focused exercises. It teaches students how to be descriptive without ‘adjective stuffing’; where ‘flow’ in writing really comes from; and how, sometimes, a single word can change everything.
