After School Clubs

Our after school clubs give your children the time and space to regularly write their own stories and plays. Parents say that these clubs have radically improved their children’s literacy results in school and teachers say that we are really helping by showing their pupils that writing can be fun! Please read the reviews from some of the schools we work with.

If you want us to come into your school and run a club or a one-off event then please call Louise on 07943 514408 or email her at info@inkhead.co.uk

Built my confidence in writing and has helped me to approach my work in a more creative way

Rae has helped me to develop my writing skills greatly. She has built my confidence in writing and has helped me to approach my work in a more creative way. Even though she helps me a lot academically, she still makes an effort to help me enjoy myself. We often have silly challenges in sessions as well as rebus puzzles, which the whole family enjoy. I definitely enjoy my time with Rae and she has helped so much to progress in my English. Well done Rae!

Tobi

Tobi was also able to get into his preferred school

Rae has helped Tobi to develop his writing skills greatly. Within a few months of teaching, Tobi moved several levels higher in school. Rae makes her lessons with Tobi very engaging. For instance, last week, the three of us had 10 minutes to write a funny story. Tobi was also able to get into his preferred school, with Rae's support. Rae spent extra time helping to ensure he was well prepared for his exams.

I am writing to thank you for letting Nathen take the course at CUFOS. He really enjoyed the course and John's method of teaching. We believe it will be good if Nathen could have 1-1 tuition by John/one of the other tutors, so that he could build up confidence in his writing.

S Jacob

My wife and I have been delighted with the personal tuition John (Sheil) has been giving our daughter over recent months. His evident enthusiasm for creative writing is shared in an easy and unassuming manner. She has thrived with this approach, developing a more confident and interesting writing style and gaining significantly higher marks in school.

MS.

Tymek was a really great teacher and I would highly recommend him.

Mrs Blaikie

Tymek is an outstanding tutor.  My son's confidence in terms of his creative writing ability has picked up significantly and he has advanced when it comes to his English skills more generally which has also been noted at school.  Tymek is friendly, always punctual and on arrival his enthusiasm invariably means that our son is engaged in his lesson from the very first moment.  Tymek has been able to quickly discover our son's weaknesses and then scaffold his learning in such a way that he feels able and confident, all done in a fun atmosphere, quickly developing his English/writing skills.

lnkhead is London's best kept secret... Louise has inspired Felix and his friends to love to write and be more creative. She gave him confidence and made each session different, fun and memorable. I wholehearted recommend Inkhead as Louise is passionate about writing and keen for children develop under her guidance.

Mother of 5 and 7 year old boys

she has begun her first ‘novel’.

Initially Louise’s class was to help my daughter commit her riotous thoughts to paper in an imaginative, creative way. This achieved, she has begun her first ‘novel’ – a work of art and major achievement for a previously reluctant writer; the inspiration for which can only be attributed to Louise’s determined ability to understand what drives each child she works with.

Eartha, Mother

She wouldn’t swap it for any other club in the world!

Louise’s class is the place where my daughter comes to dream and let her imagination run riot. She wouldn’t swap it for any other club in the world!

Jana, Mother

They have written some wonderful stories!

My two children have loved coming to Inkhead. Louise has helped them explore their imaginations and gives them great tips. They have written some wonderful stories!

Neil Amos

Ben has really loved these sessions.

The creative writing classes run by Louise Pearce are inspirational. Why? Because my 13-year-old son Ben gets up on a Saturday morning, with enthusiasm, in order to attend a two-hour writing session! Always a voracious reader and keen creative writer, Ben has really loved these sessions. Through exercises involving such things as characterisation, plot and description, they have given him the tools to focus and refine his writing. For him, a lesson in itself was having to write something in only 100 words! The hour on a Saturday are not only creative but also fun and I would encourage parents of both keen and reluctant writers to let their kids have a try and put pen to paper.

Each week we look forward to seeing what Inkheads Club will produce!

Inkhead Club has enriched our clubs programme. The engaging programme give the children to work together on innovative, creative and exciting projects together. The sense of satisfaction the girls get from seeing their idea develop and come to life over a number of weeks is very rewarding. The Inkheads project gives a great boost to confidence and helps the children develop teamwork and leadership strategies. Each week we look forward to seeing what Inkheads Club will produce!

A great addition to our extra-curricular programme

Inkhead Club has been running at Eaton House Girls’ School since 2012. The girls absolutely love their sessions with Miss Louise, and are excited to attend this popular, weekly club. The girls are encouraged to be creative and imaginative, and to use a variety of techniques and prompts to help them with their writing. Detailed writing journals are kept and the girls are given insightful feedback to develop their writing further. A great addition to our extra-curricular programme.

Marietta: My son went to the trial session full of doubts and came out full of enthusiasm and praise for his teacher. In a gentle and supportive manner, Inkhead has given him confidence and shown him that writing can be exciting. Tintin: I  have really enjoyed trying out different writing styles, exploring  plots and writing stories with the other children.

Thanks again!

Thanks for this very positive and constructive feedback. Yvonne left us in April for Pembroke House school, so she has not yet seen the comments - I will share them with her when she comes for mid-term on Thursday. Detailed critique & Positive feedback

Thank you so much for this. It’s a really detailed critique and Daisy was really pleased to receive it. It’s great to have such positive feedback.

Laura

My daughters both enjoyed the Blackheath holiday course this time. They particularly liked the feedback from Romey as they found it very positive and encouraging.  They also got on well with the other children in the group. When they previously went to the Herne Hill holiday course, which they also enjoyed, they were so enthused by it that they started writing as soon as they got home! I would (and have) recommend(ed) Inkheads to others in the girls' year group.

Sian

Emily has really enjoyed her time with inkhead. She has gained more confidence and learned how to use her imagination.

Sherina Morley

Jade enjoyed the workshop so much last year that she wanted to come again this year. Inkhead is a great forum for children to explore imaginative story making.

Fay Saxty

Abhay has really enjoyed coming to inkhead. He has been more enthusiastic and motivated towards writing his stories.

Well, I am not altogether sure how Zoe did it (am thinking witchcraft or somesuch) but Tom and Arch have had a ball this week and just loved Inkhead. Archie has really struggled with writing and I could almost weep at him coming home so enthused! Not sure whether it’s a threat or a promise, but he told Zoe this morning that he’ll be back in the summer. Anyway, thank you both for all the hard work. I really appreciate it. My 7 year old daughter has very nervous about attending the course because she was on her own. However she quickly made friends and she absolutely loved it. Writing class is really fun. My teacher says that my writing is getting better every week. I joined it because I love writing and I would like to improve it. My favourite bit about writing is when I get to the middle of the story because that is when the problem comes in. To me the problem is the easiest part. At school we have to do a plan before we write the story. I’m not very good at writing plans because all my ideas are in my head, and it’s hard to put them in notes.

Matthew, student

Writing is not just a piece of paper, writing is a place. Writing is a place where anything is possible, and there are no rules. It’s a place for imagination to go absolutely mad. Everyone has their own little creative writing world. They probably don’t use it properly. But I manage to get into mine every week and that’s brilliant.

I just wanted to send a brief message letting you know my appreciation for your critique. I felt all of the advice was very relevant to my story and it was extremely helpful and made a great deal of sense. I am very encouraged by your positive comments. I am writing a story in my free time and the advice you gave also helped in that as well.

Thank you Inkhead!

Louise was very helpful and gave me positive critique and now I am able to construct my sentence well. I am able to express myself very well.

Mrs Sarah Segrave Headmistress Eaton House Girls’ School

Inkhead Club has been running at Eaton House Girls’ School since 2012. The girls absolutely love their sessions with Miss Louise, and are excited to attend this popular, weekly club. The girls are encouraged to be creative and imaginative, and to use a variety of techniques and prompts to help them with their writing. Detailed writing journals are kept and the girls are given insightful feedback to develop their writing further. A great addition to our extra-curricular programme.

David Brady Head of English Merton Court Preparatory School

We're delighted to offer 'inkhead' creative writing sessions after school. They have grown in popularity each term. The children enjoy the sessions and their English work has improved! We have also had whole school writing days with inkhead which have been successful, staff INSET sessions and we also use the inkhead story prompt books in our own classes

Zoe's Mother

My 7-year-old daughter has very nervous about attending the course because she was on her own. However she quickly made friends and she absolutely loved it. She has already shown her stories to her teacher and is looking forward to attending again.

Hannah had a fantastic three days on the story writing course at the Carnegie Library over the Easter holidays. She loved taking part and said the time flew by. At the end, Hannah was asking when the next course would be and if she could sign up for it as she had had such a brilliant time. Hannah also said the other kids on the course were really nice and had been good to work with and the teacher was great.

The inkheads have really helped me with my English and I have really enjoyed it.

Matthew, Student

Jade enjoyed the workshop so much last year that she wanted to come again this year. Inkhead is a great forum for children to explore imaginative story making.

Fay Saxty

Abhay has really enjoyed coming to inkhead. He has been more enthusiastic and motivated towards writing his stories.

Gabri, Mother

I really enjoyed inkhead. Now I can’t stop writing!

Mrs McIntyre, Bromley

lnkhead is London's best kept secret...

Shown him that writing can be exciting

Marietta: My son went to the trial session full of doubts and came out full of enthusiasm and praise for his teacher. In a gentle and supportive manner, Inkhead has given him confidence and shown him that writing can be exciting. Tintin: I  have really enjoyed trying out different writing styles, exploring  plots and writing stories with the other children.

Marietta

Thanks again!

Thanks for this very positive and constructive feedback. Yvonne left us in April for Pembroke House school, so she has not yet seen the comments - I will share them with her when she comes for mid-term on Thursday. I did tell her that she has been advised to lengthen the story and she is working on it already.

Happy & Proud Parent, Anitha.

We are the parents of an 11 year old boy, Prithvi, who was reluctant in writing essays. With the help of Louise and inkhead he turned over a new leaf and is now very happy to write a lot in a verbose manner. Thanks to this help; he has now received placements from very good secondary schools for which we are very much pleased and proud of him. We would gladly recommend Louise and inkhead to turnaround reluctant children into shining stars with their writing skills.
